  CArtHop in River Park started quietly. Photo by CArtHop.   CArtHop started about three months ago with the help of Downtown Fresno Partnership, Creative Fresno, Dusty Buns and Fresno Brewing Company, to name a few. Its first home is the north end of the Fulton Mall, every Thursday, from 10am to 2 pm. Fulton Mall: The Future

    Improving the Fulton Mall is the the City of Fresno’s number one priority in revitalizing downtown Fresno. I talked about the deteriorating condition of the Fulton Mall in this blog post. The Advisory Committee for the Fulton Corridor Specific Plan (FCSP), nominated three options for the future of the Fulton Mall. After the environmental review process, the City Council is expected to adopt an option next year. The new Fulton is expected to be completed by the summer of 2015. The City was rewarded...

  OPTION 1: RECONNECT FORMER STREET GRID ON TRADITIONAL STREETS (Edited 9/19/12). Photo depiction of Option 1. Crosswalks are placed every half a block and provide space for existing art features. Pruned trees and better signage make store fronts more visible. The sidewalks are wide enough for outdoor seating and pedestrian traffic. Cars can park in front of stores.   The Fulton Mall is a pedestrian-only mall located on Fulton Street in Downtown Fresno. It occupies six blocks between Tuolumne and Inyo Streets. Fresno and Tulare Streets allow cars to drive through the Mall, but do not allow on-street parking. The Mall is 2,670 feet long and 80-feet wide. The mall is known as an outdoor museum of art.
